Kotilingala Ghat Rajahmundry — Shiva Abhishekam & Snanam

Kotilingala Ghat in Rajamahendravaram is one of the most spiritually significant bathing ghats for Godavari Pushkaralu 2027. The ghat takes its name from the legendary koti linga (one crore Shiva lingams) said to have been installed here during the Krita Yuga. Pilgrims who perform abhishekam at the Kotilingala Shiva temple followed by snanam in the Godavari at this ghat are believed to attain the merit of visiting all twelve Jyotirlingas.

Spiritual Significance

Kotilingala Ghat is associated with Lord Shiva worship. The adjacent Markandeya Swamy Temple is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Rajahmundry, dating back to the 11th century. During Pushkaralu, devotees first take the holy dip, then offer abhishekam at the temple with milk, ghee, honey, and bilva leaves. The ghat is also a popular site for performing Rudrabhishekam and Mahanyasa Purvaka Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam by priests.

Location and Access

Kotilingala Ghat is approximately 800 meters downstream from Pushkar Ghat. From the Rajahmundry Junction, take the auto-rickshaw stand exit and travel 2 km along the riverside road. Free APSRTC shuttle buses ferry pilgrims between Pushkar Ghat and Kotilingala Ghat every 10 minutes during the festival.
